Name: Niki Beesley
Job Role: Shalfleet Little Explorers Senior Practitioner

Niki first joined Little Explorers in March 2014 so is now celebrating 7 years of working with the children here. Before coming to the setting Niki moved over from the mainland and has contributed her 20 years’ worth of knowledge since joining our preschool. Niki has experience in working in regular day nurseries as well as Montessori settings and has had jobs such as practitioner, senior practitioner, room leader and manager in a variety of settings. Niki is a well-known and respected face at the setting as she usually works 50 weeks of the year. Niki has been through her career gaining qualifications such as Early childhood environment rating scale training, nursery nursing, play works and nursery management skills.

Recent courses completed: Child protection, Safeguarding, paediatric first aid, online safety, FGM, mental wellbeing, equality and diversity, administering medicines, fire safety, prevent, adverse childhood experiences, speech and language support and infection control.

Nancy joined the Little Explorers team in 2004 when both of her children attended the setting. During her time at Little Explorers she undertook an NVQ 2 in play works followed by a NVQ 3 in childcare learning and development. Nancy became the Birth to Three room leader in 2009 after covering Becky’s maternity leave as Birth to Three room leader.

Recent courses completed: Equality and Diversity, Mental Health awareness in Children and Young People, Safeguarding, Prevent, FGM, Child Exploitation, Adverse Childhood Experiences, Paediatric First Aid, Infection control and attachment.

Job Role: Childcare practitioner- foundation stage

Karen first joined our Little Explorers team back in July 2010 where she took up the role as Holiday Club Practitioner during the summer holidays. She then went on to work at our federated sister school in Yarmouth working both in Little Stars Preschool and in the Reception Class there. Karen returned to Little Explorers in May 2011, so will soon be celebrating 10 years of working with our children. Karen’s experience in childcare is a vast 30 years, she has NNEB qualification and has undertaken many other courses to further her knowledge. Throughout her career Karen has taken on different aspects of working with children, starting off being a nanny, then working in a private school in the reception class, working in preschools, and as a music assistant for a weekly Rhythm Time group. Karen also assisted and then herself became the leader of a Rainbows Group – a position she held for 12 years. Today Karen is a familiar face to those parents who have older children come through the setting and are returning with a younger sibling

Job Role: Childcare practitioner- foundation stage

Martha joined Little Explorers in 2015 after being on student placement both here and in the school. After finishing school and going to college to complete her Level 2 and 3 Childhood Studies Martha worked within the hospitality industry and continued this on evenings and weekends after she was first employed to work for the holiday club periods. Martha is now employed full time and works 50 weeks of the years around 4 days a week also doing both breakfast and afterschool clubs.
